‼️ a couple of important things to remember ‼️

1) The deadline to sign up for our weekend away is at the end of this month (that's in less than a week 😱).

2) Church meeting is tomorrow (Sunday 25th, after the service 📅).

3) Jesus loves you (even if you ignore 1 and 2 🥹).

📖 Last week we looked at Matthew 3 together and saw that the baptism of Jesus was way more than a guy simply being baptised, but a dramatic retelling of the story of new creation, and an invitation for all of us to start again in Jesus. 🙌 You can catch up with this talk on Spotify, YouTube or our website.

On Sunday Matt shared with the adults from Matthew 2, where we discover some amazing truths about Jesus and that He is worthy of our worship. But Matthew 2 also forces us to ask how we will respond to Him, will we be a monarch (like Herod) and want the throne for ourselves? Or will be Magi, those who will commit our lives to the journey of the praise of Jesus!?

On Sunday, Matt took us to the book of Ephesians. Ephesians tells us that we were dead in our sins. It’s a reality that we’ve all felt, life without hope or peace, life filled with brokenness and pain. Yet Paul, the writer, also tells us that there is another reality, one with blessing, freedom, forgiveness, wholeness and joy. It’s a reality that’s only found in Jesus and Paul tells us that the amazing news is that it’s a reality that God predestined for us in Jesus - a way for all humanity to be made new.

On Sunday, Matt shared with us from Romans 12:1-2, looking at how in view of what Jesus has done for us on the cross we are invited to spend our lives now being with Him, learning from Him and becoming like Him.

We looked at the same passage of scripture in Children's Church and Youth Church too!

Our young people talked about what "patterns of this world" we might feel pressured to follow, and how God's Spirit transforms the way we think. Our children talked about how it sometimes takes courage to stand up for Jesus, and how the Holy Spirit helps us be brave for Him 🙌

On Sunday, Matt shared with us from Romans 12:1-2, looking at how in view of what Jesus has done for us on the cross we are invited to spend our lives now being with Him, learning from Him and becoming like Him.

📖 On Sunday, Ann-See shared with us from 2 Corinthians. She shared how Paul was able to be honest with the church about his struggles in life because he had discovered what it meant to live unveiled before Jesus. And she shared with us how Jesus calls us to come as we are and allow Him to lift the veils we often hide behind so that we too can come face to face with Him, the one who loves us.

📖 On Sunday, Ann-See shared with us from 2 Corinthians. 🚸 On Sunday in Children’s Church we read 2 Corinthians 3. We were learning that Jesus has come to remove the veil so that we can know Him fully and reflect His glory in our lives. We have the Holy Spirit who brings us freedom.

The Children used torches (in the dark!) and put veils over their faces just like Moses in the Old Testament. We talked about how Jesus came to remove the veil so that we have freedom by the Holy Spirit. The children made mirrors to remind them that they reflect Jesus in their own lives.

😎 In Youth church, we talked about how our faith is grounded in the resurrection of Jesus and how this gives us hope and strength even when life feels difficult. We read from 1 Corinthians 15 and 2 Corinthians 4 and discussed what Paul means when he calls us “jars of clay”. We talked about God choosing to show His power through our weakness, and thought about times when life feels overwhelming... what difference does it make to know that “our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us eternal glory”?

The children enjoyed a water activity where we used empty cups and filled them from a big jug of water. When we are filled with God’s love it overflows out of us and onto others. The children decorated paper cups with our key verses, and we had a special ministry time where we spent time in God’s presence and responded to his love for us.🚰

We then explored how God reveals His wisdom by His Spirit and invites us into a revelation of what Jesus has done for us, whilst also considering how we live in the good of it. 📖

📖 Galatians - One True Gospel 📖

Today we explored Paul's letter to the Galatians. Paul writes to them because, having put their faith in Jesus alone to save them, there were now some people trying to deceive them and tell them that Jesus alone wasn’t enough and they needed to do more. Paul says that this is not true, and in fact is no gospel (good news) at all. On Sunday Matt walked us through some modern day versions of this false gospel “Jesus + something else” in order to be really saved. We discovered that what Paul says to the Galatians is still true today, that Jesus' death and resurrection alone is the good news for us, Jesus has saved us, and He alone is our hope.
