🚸 On Sunday, Children’s Church looked at 1 Corinthians 13 and we learnt what the Bible says about love; how it can be hard to love others and three only way we can do that is to recieve love from God first. God’s love for us is perfect - and we take our example of how to love from Him.

The children enjoyed a water activity where we used empty cups and filled them from a big jug of water. When we are filled with God’s love it overflows out of us and onto others. The children decorated paper cups with our key verses, and we had a special ministry time where we spent time in God’s presence and responded to his love for us.🚰

Youth Church dove into 1 Corinthians 12!
👃👁️🖐️🦵We ran in a body part relay, and talked about what Paul meant when he said we are all parts of one body in Christ.

We discovered that the Word says that without love, even great gifts or actions don’t matter, and we talked about how love can guide the way we use our different gifts as one body ❤️

We then explored how God reveals His wisdom by His Spirit and invites us into a revelation of what Jesus has done for us, whilst also considering how we live in the good of it. 📖

We are all different, but when we come together we are part of God’s family.

The children completed some challenges where they had to work together as part of a big team! The younger children used some toy figures to describe their families, and the older children read the verses in the bible and talked about how we can build each other up. We made some paper people to represent ourselves and then placed them together as a sign of unity and togetherness. We sang the song The Blessing over each other, and over the paper figures which represented our church.

👉 Talking points
· Spend some time with your child talking about your family - about the different people who make it up, and the strengths you have when you are together.

· Take time to pray for your family, but also to pray for the wider church too. Ask God to bless the different generations of people that make up our church, and pray for Pastor Matt and the leadership team too.

📖 Galatians - One True Gospel 📖

Today we explored Paul's letter to the Galatians. Paul writes to them because, having put their faith in Jesus alone to save them, there were now some people trying to deceive them and tell them that Jesus alone wasn’t enough and they needed to do more. Paul says that this is not true, and in fact is no gospel (good news) at all. On Sunday Matt walked us through some modern day versions of this false gospel “Jesus + something else” in order to be really saved. We discovered that what Paul says to the Galatians is still true today, that Jesus' death and resurrection alone is the good news for us, Jesus has saved us, and He alone is our hope.

We thought about the difference between living for ourselves and living by the Spirit.

The children had a great time playing a fruits of the spirit themed parachute game! We also drew fruit trees and stuck on different types of fruit, asking God what fruit he wants to grow in our lives. We then had a special time where we split into pairs and the children prayed specifically for each other, that the Spirit would fill them so that they are ready to grow in the fruit that he has planted in them.

👉 Talking points: ask your child which fruits they felt that God wanted to grow more in their life. Share with your child the fruits that you have seen God grow in your life over the years.

On Sunday we looked at how the early church started to form in Acts 6:1-7, and discovered that God is at work even in the trials to make His Church look more and more like Jesus, so that together we become the body of Christ on the face of the earth, continuing the ministry of Jesus today.

On Sunday we spent time looking at the part of the scriptures where Pilot offers the people a choice to release either Jesus the Christ or Jesus Barabbas (Mark 15). Matt challenged us that we still have this choice today, the choice between a Jesus we make in our own image or the Jesus that is revealed through the scriptures who fulfils Gods plan to truly bring redemption and life.

📖 On Sunday we looked at John 13 and explored, with Matt, how Jesus reveals himself here in this passage as the God from Leviticus, who has always and will always be the God who offers us grace, the God who makes us clean, the God who loves us and makes a way for us to come to Him.

🚸 In Children’s Church we read John 13:1-17. We were learning about the time that Jesus washed his Disciples’ feet. We read that initially Peter was reluctant to let Jesus wash his feet - perhaps because he did not feel worthy. We discussed that sometimes we might all feel that we aren’t ’good enough’ to come to Jesus, but Jesus ALWAYS wants us to come to him. And Jesus asks us to copy him - so we should always be looking for ways that we can bless and serve others.

The children had their feet washed by one of the leaders, and each had a personal encouragement that we felt Jesus wanted to speak into their life. One of the children then also volunteered to wash the leaders feet, which was really special. We drew around each other’s feet and wrote/drew things inside our footprints that we can commit to do for others this week.

👉 Talking points: re-watch this video with your child to remind them of the story (link in our Instagram stories) and talk together about what you think this story reveals about Jesus’ heart for us.

Make an agreement with your child that you will commit to serving each other this week - and try to surprise each other with unexpected ways to bless them.

🚨 Tomorrow: 10.30am service, 11.30am BBQ ☀️

📖 Last Sunday, we walked through Luke 10 and discovered the encouragement of Jesus not to lose focus, not to lose hope, not to allow other things in life to crowd in and pull us off course or distract us from the things that really matter.

🚸 In Children’s Church we read: Luke 12:22-34. We were learning that Jesus tells us not to be anxious about anything. He invites us to live by Kingdom values, not to focus on the worries of the world around us.

The children competed in a relay race to sort some situations/phrases into Worldly Worries or Kingdom Values. We read the passage in the bible and talked about the difference between the two, and that we can trust God to lead us and guide us.

We spent some time connecting with Jesus, and pictured ourselves putting our worries into a box, locking it up and giving it to Jesus. We then asked Jesus what gift he wanted to give us this morning to replace our worries. The children had some amazing encounters with Jesus, and were excited about the gifts that he gave them.

👉 Talking points: ask your child what some of their worries are this week - read together what it says in the passage about worrying. Share a time that you have felt worried, and that Jesus has given you peace about it.

📖 On Sunday, Matt took us through the feeding of the 4000 from Mark 8. As we read we discovered that the author, Mark, is showing us more than a miraculous story, and more than a life lesson. The account in Mark 8 actually reveals to us something amazing about who Jesus is, and what He came to do.

🚸 In Children’s Church we read about Jesus feeding the 5000 in John 6:5-13. We were learning that a miracle is something that only God can do. He took one child’s packed lunch and fed a stadium-full of people with it! God can take whatever we have to offer and turn it into something great for him.

The children looked at things through a magnifying glass to demonstrate something small being made bigger! We talked about the things that we have in our lives that we can offer to Jesus; our talents, time, words, kindness, friendships, prayers etc. The children decorated paper fish and wrote a prayer on the back along the lines of; ‘Jesus, I give you what I have. It may seem small, but I trust you can use it for something great!’

👉 Talking points: share with your child a time when God has used you to do something that you know you could never have done without his help.

Before you eat your meal together, take time to stop and pray - give thanks to God for the ways that he has blessed you all, and commit again to offering your family to be used for his glory.

We learned that our lives can be like the different types of soil - it’s easy to get distracted, or to be overwhelmed with worries. But Jesus tells us to trust in his word, and we will grow and flourish in our faith.

The children played games pretending to be the different types of soil, or threw bean bags (seeds) into boxes (the good soil). We talked about the things that hold us back from growing in our faith, and committed to putting into practice the things that help us to grow with Jesus.
